Engle Lester Jaillet, Jr.

Mr. Engle Lester Jaillet, Jr., age 94, passed away May 25, 2012. Mr. Jaillet was born September 24, 1917 in Tallapoosa to the Engle Lester Jaillet, Sr. and Ruth Dodge Jaillet. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Engle Lester Jaillet, III; and brothers, George Dodge Jaillet and Henry Alexander Jaillet.

Mr. Jaillet served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a part of the Normandy Invasion and earned a Purple Heart for being wounded in battle. He lived part of his life in Jacksonville, Florida; while in Jacksonville, he joined Glendale Community Church, the Shriners, the Mayflower Society, the Kiwanis Club, the Jacksonville Junior Chamber of Commerce, and the Sales and Marketing Club of Jacksonville. After moving back to Tallapoosa, he began attending the Tallapoosa First Christian Church and the Tallapoosa Masonic Lodge. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, reading, and putting puzzles together.

Mr. Jaillet is survived by his wife, Merle Webb Jaillet of Tallapoosa; son and daughter-in-law, John Paul and Lynette Jaillet of Tallapoosa; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sister, Esther Marie Brown of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 4:00 PM from Miller Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lloyd Mealer officiating. Music will be rendered by Harold McWhorter. Pallbearers serving will be Henry Jaillet, Jimmy Jaillet, George Wright, Mike Siragusa, Jason Jaillet, and Wesley Jaillet.

Interment will follow in Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with the Haralson County Veterans Association providing full military honors. The service will conclude with Taps.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 from 3:00 PM until the funeral hour.
