Mr. Marlin “Punk” Ward, age 93, of Tallapoosa, GA, passed away January 21, 2013. Mr. Ward was born January 11, 1920 in Cleburne Co., AL to the late Tom and Lola Chandler Ward. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jan Ellis; grandson, Nicholas Green; sisters, Evie Owens, Marie Ward and Nevaline Gay and brother, Howard Ward.
He was a member of Faith Baptist Church. He owned the Tallapoosa Skating Rink. He enjoyed wood working, furniture making, trips to the Smokey Mountains and sunny days in the yard with his companion, Brownie.
He is survived by his wife, Jewell V. Ward of Tallapoosa; daughters and son in law, Bernetta Davis of Roswell, Pat and J.P. Mann, Jr., and Barbara Green all of Tallapoosa; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 24, 2013 at 2:00 PM EST from the Chapel of Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Grover Robinson officiating. Music will be provided by Tawana Gibson and Valarie Davis. Pallbearers serving will be Chuck Campbell, Ward Campbell, Mitchell Owens, David Hutcheson, Cecil Owens, Ed Saxon, Howard Crumpton and Johnny Bollen. Honorary pallberears will be Jack Chasteen, Ed Williams, Tommy Allen, Kenny Paul Gray and Doug Chandler.
Interment will follow in Muscadine Memory Gardens Cemetery.
His family will receive friends Wednesday, January 23, 2013 between the hours of 5:00 and 8:00 PM EST.
