Mary Lou Skaggs

Mrs. Mary Lou Skaggs, age 91 of Calhoun, GA, formerly of Tallapoosa, GA passed away Thursday, February 21, 2013 at her residence. Mrs. Skaggs was born on December 31, 1921 in Obion, TN. She was the daughter of the late Oce Hastings and Mayce Carlton.

Mary Lou was a member of Calhoun First Baptist Church, the Ruth Sunday School Class and the Garden Club of Tallapoosa. She was very active in the Senior Adult Group and prior to retirement she was a secretary for Haralson County High School.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her first husband, Sayre Elisworth Cultra; second husband, Rev. S.T. Skaggs; son Charles Skaggs; one sister and one brother.

Survivors include: daughter, Sayre Beth Holland and her husband Henry of Calhoun; two step-children, Rev. Truman Skaggs of Gainesville and Dorothy Jane Spears of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Jason Holland and his wife Carol, Max Holland and his wife Hannah, Isaac Skaggs and Aleah Skaggs; and one great-granddaughter, Mayce Holland.

Memorial Services will be conducted on Sunday, February 24th at 2:00 PM from the Calhoun Baptist Church with Reverend Doug Roebuck, Dr. Bert Vaughn and Dr. John Barber officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to the American Institute for Cancer Research @ 1759 R Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20009.
