Mr. Eugene Lefler Gladden, age 87, of Tallapoosa passed away Thursday, March 26, 2014. He is preceded in death by his parents Anon Pink Gladden and Ethel Belle Sewell Gladden.  Besides his parents he is preceded in death by four sisters, Geneva Bergerson, Orvetta Gladden, Melba Remington and Troffice Boles; one brother, Byrn Gladden.

During World War II Mr. Gladden served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.  He received his Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Georgia in 1953.Mr. Gladden was a cattle farmer and tree farmer; he was also an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a retired teacher having taught in Paulding and Haralson County. 

Survivors include his wife, Lola Ann Key Gladden of Tallapoosa; two daughters and son-in-law, Teresa and Dewayne Baggett of Waco and Denise Gladden Robinson of Tallaposoa; one son Dale Galdden of Tallapoosa; two brothers and sister-in-law, L.C. Gladden of Tallapoosa and Terry and Peggy Gladden of St. Augustine, FL.; five grandchildren, Jason Baggett, Jesse (Jennifer) Baggett, Jenny Baggett, Devan Gladden Robinson and Yvonne (Josh) Robinson  Wilburn and four great grandchildren, Cody Baggett, Chance Baggett, Maeleigh Baggett and Jesse Baggett, Jr..

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. from Hutcheson’s Memorial Chapel with Judge Eddie Hulsey, Reverend Rodney Wilburn and Reverend Tommy Patterson officiating.  Music will be rendered by Harold McWhorter.

Interment will follow in Hollywood Cemetery in Tallapoosa, Georgia. The flag will be presented by the Haralson County Veterans Association.

The family will receive friends at Hutcheson’s Memorial Chapel Friday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.

Hutcheson’s Memorial Chapel & Crematory of Buchanan is in charge of the arrangements.
