Mr. Lowell Clarence “L.C.” Gladden, age 90, of Tallapoosa, passed peacefully on February 1, 2019. He was born May 24, 1928 in Steadman to the late Anon Pink and Ethel Sewell Gladden. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anne Allred Gladden; infant daughter, Mary Joan Gladden; son in law, Brian Swafford; and his brothers and sisters.

L.C. attended school in Steadman and enjoyed the small community life. He retired from Hiwassee Land Company, where he worked for many years. He was a United States Army Veteran, having served his country honorably stateside and in Italy during World War II. He loved the outdoors and was an avid gardener, fisherman, and hunter. He loved watching birds with his great granddaughter. Following his retirement, he loved to manage his tree farm.

Although a man of few words, L.C. was a teacher at heart and bestowed many life lessons to his children and grandchildren. He was baptized as a youth in the Steadman baptismal pool.

He is survived by his children and their spouses, Karen Cain, Wade and Joyce Gladden, and Jan S. and Mark Jennings, all of Tallapoosa; grandchildren and their spouses, Kyle Cain (Barb), Kari Parmenter (Ty), Kevin Hill (Kalee), all of Carrollton, Ashley Hinson (Ricky), of Yorkville, GA, Adam Ridley (Brittany), of Rainbow City, AL; four great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; brother and sister in law, Terry and Peggy Gladden, of St. Augustine, FL; and his beloved dog, Cindy.

A graveside service and his interment will be held Sunday, February 3, 2019 at 2:30 in the Steadman Baptist Church Cemetery with the Honorable Eddie Hulsey, Kyle Cain, and Adam Ridley speaking. Kyle Cain will also be providing music. Gentlemen serving as pallbearers will be Adam Ridley, Kevin Hill, Kyle Cain, Dr. Josh Wilburn, Dale Gladden, and Ricky Hinson.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the graveside service from 12:00 to 2:00PM.
